Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Hey everyone! Its October and you know what that means? HALLOWEEN (and Octoberfest)!! So I decided to review a horror game lets get into it shall we? Hmmm, what can I say about this game? ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING. If you’re a fan of any of the F.E.A.R games or Dead Space, imagine that minus guns, running for you f***ing life and you’ve got Amnesia. The object of the game isn’t to win, but immerse yourself in the dark abyss that awaits.

mmmmm....Pork rinds....

. You start out on the floor of a creepy castle, you have no idea why but the only thing he tells you is that your name is Daniel. Your health bar is instead your sanity and you must stay near light sources to keep your sanity levels relatively stable. Monsters are rare and unpredictable. I’m not going to spoil what the monsters look like, but when you hear the blood chilling sound zombies lurking about in the first level you will shat bricks. Tinderboxes help you light candles and oil lights your lantern as you go along in the game you will find these scarce which forces you to ration your supply of tinderboxes. Opening doors, cabinets, and turing valves require mouse movement, in other words, you can open the door slowly or fast depending on how scared you are. All in all, Amnesia: The Dark Decent is a well crafted game and is rapidly growing in popularity. It’s $20 on Steam but if you are unsure about the game still you can download the demo for free. I recommend you play this game in the dark with headphones on if you got them.

Have fun scaring yourself sh*tless!
